| The ivory palm tree ( Microcarphas Phytelephas ), which height reaches 17 feet and produces its first fruit after 15 years. It grows exclusively in South American rainforests in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Brazil. It sprouts the tagua seed, also known as “vegetable ivory” or the “ivory nut” due to its resemblance in texture, hardness, opacity and color to the animal ivory. |
| With it, a big variety of products are made, ranging from hand crafts to fashion jewelry. It is excellent in quality and very well received abroad, especially by important figures from the haute couture and the world of fashion who are delighted with the beauty and naturalness of the product. |

How it is produced |
|
| Once the seed has been harvested, it requires a ripening process in a dry and fresh environment. The process takes between one and six months until the seed obtains the hardness, size and light ochre color. |
The exact point when this natural ripeness culminates is detected by the appearance of a crack within the seed and the opening of a small hole on the outer shell. It is certain that the ivory will be sufficiently resistant during the process of sculpting and turning. |
Finally, the tagua nut is shaped, rich and intense colors are applied and it proceeds to polishing and shining. The result is an impeccable product being created. |
